The International School on Rewriting will be held in Nijmegen, from 12 to 16 July 2026.
This is a school aimed at Master and PhD students, researchers and practitioners interested in the study of rewriting concepts and their applications. The school offers two different tracks:
- A basic track to introduce students to term rewriting. This is a comprehensive (2EC) course that explains core concepts of first-order term rewriting accompanied with exercise sessions, targeted at students with little or no prior experience with term rewriting: https://isr2026.cs.ru.nl/basic.html
- An advanced track to introduce more experienced students (for example: those who have followed an introductory rewriting course) to various topics studied in active research in the area: https://isr2026.cs.ru.nl/advanced.html
This event is supported by IPA. Participating IPA students will have their registration fee reimbursed. Students will receive 2EC for either passing the basic track exam, or attending all courses in the advanced track.
Registration includes the lectures, breakfast, lunch and dinner, accommodation (two students to a room — see https://isr2026.cs.ru.nl/accommodation.html) and the social event.
Note that the school is held in the week before the Federated Logic Conferences, but the event is scheduled in such a way as to allow for enough to travel to Lisbon for even the first of the events.

- Your full name (first and last)
- The track you wish to follow (basic or advanced)
- Your gender (for the purpose of room sharing), or alternatively, a preferred room partner (please navigate this with them first so they also indicate you!).
Note: depending on the number of registrations, we will likely be able to accommodate some requests for solo rooms, at an extra cost of 150 euros (although note that this is not covered by IPA). If you are interested in this, just include it in the mail! - Dietary restrictions

In principle you will be required to pay the 1000 euro registration fee, but this will be reimbursed by IPA following attendance. If you have difficulty with the advance payment, please indicate this in your mail, and we can discuss the possibility of foregoing the advance — just keep in mind that if you register and do not attend, you will be expected to pay!
